AT is Access to a Task

AT is Access to a Task
Assistive Technology is NOT merely clever IT. It includes various types of tools that can help students achieve their true potential at school and beyond. AT is Access to a Task. And it is important to match the AT to both the task and the student, so that it effectively aids performance.

AT can provide a process to allow students to demonstrate their ability, competence and contribution at school and within the school community. AT has the power to change the minds and perceptions, not only of the students using AT, but perhaps equally as important, the minds of others who may not have had opportunity to witness or appreciate the 'abilities' of those students having physical and cognitive challenges. In other words, AT can level the playing field within education.
